The chairman of Apapa Chapter of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Chief Eze Uchendu has promised a total turnaround in operation of the shipping companies and terminal operators in Apapa.
He disclosed that himself and other executive members have being working round the clock since they assumed duties to ensure they make positive changes in the operation of the shipping companies and terminal operators to stop their irregularities as they affect the freight forwarding business. In his words, "me and my Excos have been working round the clock to ensure we make some changes, we have started by calling some Shipping Companies and terminal operator to order, we are going to come out with a strong way of saying No to their irregularities and porous operations".
Eze Uchendu who has being in NAGAFF executive since the past eleven years revealed this in an interview with recently with
Maritimegistonline.com in the
chapter's newly acquired Secretariat in Apapa.
The Chairman whom most people refers to as an action man and a man of his words within just two weeks of his assumption of duty had broken the jinks of the chapter not having a Secretariat by acquiring and furnishing a befitting office Secretariat for the chapter l, a feat which had eluded the two past administrations of Dr. Fred Ajuzie and Ndubuisi.
According to the Chairman, not getting an office has always being his problem he had with past chairmen of the chapter as they prefer to use their personal office to operate the chapter affairs.
In his words "This has been the problem i had with the previous administrations of our chapter, that was the problem i had with Dr. Fred Ajuzie later with Mr. Ndubuisi both of whom i served as their Vice, trying to convince them and sell the idea of getting a befitting office for our chapter which they did not buy into has always being my problem with them, there is nothing like having an Secretariat where the chapter operate from; so following the resignation of the former chairman i assumed office as the chairman, I felt my first task would be to provide a secretariat for us where we can meet and carry out our administrative functions and I thank God I was able to achieve this with my other executives within the shortest possible time".
On the issue of members welfare, the chairman promised to align himself with the welfare package already put in place byk the National headquarters since the early days of NAGAFF and if possible improve on it to make it better.
